God's Promises

There are so many voices right now competing for our attention: Facebook, television, news feed, talk show hosts, friends, work colleagues, and on and on.  Yet, God's Word is the TRUTH.  His Promises are unbreakable.  If we are not careful, we can allow all the competing voices to crowd out the TRUTH of God found in his Word.  Take a moment to post a Bible passage that God is using or has used in your life.  You can just post the passage and let it speak for itself, or you can also tell us how that passage is speaking TRUTH to the many voices competing for your attention.

2 Timothy 3: 16-17
All Scripture is inspired (God breathed) by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

1 Corinthians 3:18-21
18 Let no one deceive himself. If anyone amount you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, " He catches the wise in their own craftiness ",
20 and again, " the Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile. "
21 Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours.

12 The word of God, you see, is alive and moving; sharper than a double-edged sword; piercing the divide between soul and spirit, joints and marrow; able to judge the thoughts and will of the heart. 13 No creature can hide from God: God sees all. Everyone and everything is exposed, opened for His inspection; and He’s the One we will have to explain ourselves to.

14 Since we have a great High Priest, Jesus, the Son of God who has passed through the heavens from death into new life with God, let us hold tightly to our faith. 15 For Jesus is not some high priest who has no sympathy for our weaknesses and flaws. He has already been tested in every way that we are tested; but He emerged victorious, without failing God. 16 So let us step boldly to the throne of grace, where we can find mercy and grace to help when we need it most.

John 16:13-15
13 " However, when He, the Spirit of Truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you of things to come.
14 " He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.
15 " All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you. "

Psalm 139

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me and know my anxious thoughts;
24 And see if there be any hurtful way in me,
And lead me in the everlasting way.

As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.

Psalm 18:30

Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him.

Psalm 62:5

You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.

Isaiah 26:3

Oh my gosh yes. I needed to be reminded of these...and honestly they are a theme of a few songs I prayed/wrote recently. This is so grounding and so freeing both to be reminded of

Habakkuk:3:17-19: though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; though the labor of the olive may fail, and the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls- Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer's feet, And he will make me walk on my high hills.

Haleemon, I love these verses. I have them written on a note card so that I see them often each day. Love you!

“Let us hold firmly to the hope we claim to have. The God who promised is faithful. Let us consider how we can stir up one another to love. Let us help one another to do good works.”

As for God, his way is perfect, the word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him. For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God? It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.

“Come, let us bow down and worship him. Let us fall on our knees in front of the Lord our Maker. He is our God. We are the sheep belonging to his flock. We are the people he takes good care of. If only you would listen to his voice today.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭95:6-7‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

“But suppose you don’t want to serve him. Then choose for yourselves right now whom you will serve. You can choose the gods your people served east of the Euphrates River. Or you can serve the gods of the Amorites. After all, you are living in their land. But as for me and my family, we will serve the LORD.””
‭‭Joshua 24:15
Why does this matter?
