God's Promises

There are so many voices right now competing for our attention: Facebook, television, news feed, talk show hosts, friends, work colleagues, and on and on.  Yet, God's Word is the TRUTH.  His Promises are unbreakable.  If we are not careful, we can allow all the competing voices to crowd out the TRUTH of God found in his Word.  Take a moment to post a Bible passage that God is using or has used in your life.  You can just post the passage and let it speak for itself, or you can also tell us how that passage is speaking TRUTH to the many voices competing for your attention.

Your road led through the sea,
your pathway through the mighty waters--
a pathway no one knew was there! (Psalm 77:19 NLT)

I remember reading this verse years ago when I was looking for a new job. It was like the words jumped off the page and God said: "I'm the God of the path no one knows is there. Trust me." He has reminded me of that truth many times over the years.

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

The foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom. The weakness of God is stronger than man's strength.

6 He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. 7 Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children.”

Revelation 21:6-7

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”

14 He is the embodiment of our peace, sent once and for all to take down the great barrier of hatred and hostility that has divided us so that we can be one. 15 He offered His body on the sacrificial altar to bring an end to the law’s ordinances and dictations that separated Jews from the outside nations. His desire was to create in His body one new humanity from the two opposing groups, thus creating peace. 16 Effectively the cross becomes God’s means to kill off the hostility once and for all so that He is able to reconcile them both to God in this one new body. (Ephesians 2:14-16 TheVoice)

1 Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before Him with joyful singing.
3 Know that the Lord Himself is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

Psalm 100: 1 - 3

God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:1,10, NIV)

I've had two main stretches of time when I was looking for a new job. The first one mentioned above in my previous post, and the time right before I came to Westside Chapel in 2016. For this second time, God gave me Psalm 46. It became both an anchor and a promise that helped me and my family to trust God had something for us. This in-between season ended up being one of the best times of our life as we saw God provide and encourage us through the love of his people.

2 When the wicked advance against me
to devour[a] me,
it is my enemies and my foes
who will stumble and fall.
3 Though an army besiege me,
my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me,
even then I will be confident.
13 I remain confident of this:
I will see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living.
14 Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord.
Psalms 27:2-3 & 13-14

“I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”
Mark 9:24

I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

22 The steadfast love of the Lord ever ceases,
his mercies never come to an end;
23 they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.

It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights.

Psalm 18:32 & 33

This has been a comfort as I face uncertainty with my job due to COVID-19's impact. Grateful for His presence and his promises to lead me.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. James 1:5

Ps. 40 I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.
